Purpose: The purpose of The Combine Board of Advisors is to build and sustain a global ecosystem of expertise as we partner with global corporations to bring their IP to market as tech startups. Our advisors will play a key role in the selection, diligence, and growth of our portfolio companies.
The Combine Global Board of Advisors is chaired by Brian McGowan. Brian is a Principal in the Dentons US Public Policy and Regulation practice and a nationally-known economic development authority. Most recently, Brian served as the executive vice president and chief operating officer for the Metro Atlanta Chamber. Prior to this, he was appointed by Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed as president and CEO of Invest Atlanta, the city's economic development arm. Earlier in his career, Brian was appointed by President Barack Obama to be US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce, served as an economic advisor in the White House National Incident Command for the BP oil spill and was appointed US co-chair for the OECD working party on territorial policy for rural areas. Brian was also appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger as Deputy Secretary for Economic Development and Commerce for the State of California and was appointed by Governor Nathan Deal of Georgia to serve on the Board of the Fort McPherson Local Redevelopment Authority. He has also supported a USAID funded program to help cities in Bulgaria create economic development programs. McGowan is also a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institute.
